There’s a new early learning resource to support families, educators and communities: a series of 14 joyful and engaging 2-minute videos that feature real families and give concrete examples of how caregivers can support their young children as they develop social-emotional, math and literacy skills — through play, talk and meaningful interactions with the caring adults in their lives. Each video is closely aligned to one measure of KIDS – the Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS), an observation tool designed to help better understand the development and growth of kindergarteners in Illinois.
Our very own Blue Room teacher, Eva Compisi, is featured in some of these videos! You’ll see her imagining, counting, laughing, questioning, and interacting with a Cherry Blue Room student as they play together on the playground. All of these videos are easily accessible for both English and Spanish speakers. They can even be watched with your children to gain ideas about how to interact together while helping eventually prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
We found the videos to be very much aligned with Cherry’s philosophy of learning through play. We hope you enjoy them too!
