Cherry Preschool’s camp is a six-week summer program designed to give children a safe, fun, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate camp experience.  The camp is located in and on the grounds of Cherry Preschool, 1418 Lake Street, Evanston.  Camp meets Monday through Thursday from 9:00 to 12:00. Camp Includes:

  • Camp teachers plan special themes weekly.
  • Weather permitting, outdoor play takes place at Penny Park’s hill, at our on-site playlot (sand box, bubble fun, riding toys, water play & sprinklers, climbing equipment, messy art, balls & hoops), and at our outdoor classroom.
  • Healthy snacks provided by Cherry Preschool.
  • Large motor & creative movement activities in our air-conditioned gym.

Rules of the Game

  • Children must be three by September 1.
  • Due to the outdoor nature of our program, children must be toilet trained. This means no diapers or pull-ups.
  • For children who have not had previous preschool group experience without a parent or for children who are new to Cherry Preschool, please contact the camp director before enrolling. We take this position in the best interest of the children as Summer camp may not be a good place to work on separation issues.
  • We strive to create groupings of children based on friendships and to balance the groupings by age and gender.
  • Absences for any reason do not reduce tuition. There are no refunds for non-attendance due to vacations or illness.
  • Families of children with special needs should meet with the Child Development/Inclusion Coordinator to determine the appropriateness of the camp program for their child.

Camp Staff

Camp groups include up to 16 children and are taught by two staff members: a lead teacher and an assistant teacher.  High school students serve as counselors, under the supervision of our teaching staff.  Junior counselors assist with indoor and outdoor activities, and snack.
