Welcome to Cherry Giving
Charitable giving at Cherry Preschool has taken on an even greater importance during the Covid-19 pandemic as it provides critical support for our mission driven programming. Through various fund-raising opportunities during the year, Cherry seeks to provide a high quality, developmental, play-based early childhood education to children of all backgrounds and abilities. There are the two major venues for giving in our community:
Cherry’s Annual Appeal is our school’s annual giving program; it is one of our primary means of funding our inclusion, scholarship and community outreach efforts. Every gift is significant, as collectively they enhance the breadth and depth of our ability to help as many families in our community as possible.

The Cherry Community of current and alumni parents, staff, and supporters come together every spring for a fun, adult evening to celebrate what makes Cherry unique and special. Dinner, entertainment, silent and live auctions, and a paddle raise are just some elements of this annual spring benefit that raises money to support our inclusion, scholarship and community outreach efforts.

Financially it has been a very hard year on our family and worrying about how to afford preschool for our daughter added to our financial stress. When we received notification of her scholarship, I began to cry. Knowing that there is someone who is able to help us financially and help our daughter attend preschool means so much — we are so grateful. Cherry Preschool is more than an amazing school. It is a warm, loving community that embraces all. Our daughter has begun beautiful friendships and has blossomed within this community and this could not have happened without your scholarship. We are forever grateful for your generosity. Thank you!
Donations to Cherry Preschool can be made to our General Fund or earmarked to one of the following funds:
The Terry Cunningham Beem Memorial Fund honors a founding staff member of the preschool and a much-loved Evanston early childhood educator who left the world a better place.
The Constance (Jervis) Mar-Yohana Memorial Fund celebrates the life of a dear alumna of our preschool through gifts to Cherry Preschool’s Inclusion Program.
The Laurie Levy Scholarship Fund, named in honor of our founding Director, was established in 2017 to support Cherry Preschool’s effort to make an early childhood education accessible to all families regardless of their ability to pay. Laurie’s legacy lives on as we continue to support her vision of including children of all abilities and backgrounds.
The Rhonda Cohen Inclusion Program Fund, named in honor of our founding Child Development and Inclusion Director, was established in 2018 to support Cherry Preschool’s commitment to children with special needs and their families.
The Staff Appreciation Fund, allows us to provide bonuses to our hardworking staff at the end of the year.
