Being a part of our summer camp team provides a fun opportunity to work with young children and to develop new skills under the guidance of a supportive staff. Before applying, please carefully consider the below job descriptions to see if working at Cherry’s Summer Camp is a good fit for you. Camp runs from June 20 - July 27 (no camp on June 19 or July 4) and meets Monday through Thursday. All counselors must attend a mandatory Training/Camp Prep Meeting on Friday, June 16 from 9:00AM - 12:00PM. Junior Counselor: This is a volunteer position designed for students going into 7th or 8th grade. Serving as a junior counselor provides experience working with children and training that prepares junior counselors to become counselors. Hours: 8:45AM – 12:00PM Responsibilities: Help set up the classroom before camp and clean up at the end of the day. Clean up Penny Park each morning before the children arrive. Prepare snack for the class. Help Cherry staff make sure all children are safe. Play with the children and make sure they are enjoying camp. Inclusion Counselor: This is a six-week paid position. Inclusion counselors serve a very important role at summer camp. They support the children in Cherry’s Inclusion Program who have disabilities and/or developmental delays. Without inclusion counselors, the children in the Inclusion Program would not be able to attend summer camp. The inclusion counselor position is a more demanding position than the junior counselor position and requires more responsibility and dedication to one specific child. Hours: 8:30AM – 12:15PM Salary: $ 15.00 per hour Responsibilities: Set up and clean up the playlot and parking lot each day. Arrive 30 minutes before the start of camp to prepare for the day. Greet your assigned Inclusion camper upon arrival and take them to their caregivers at the end of camp each day. Support your assigned Inclusion camper throughout the day. Ensure your camper's safety during camp. Work with the inclusion director and classroom teacher to understand the needs of your child and how to support them at camp. Facilitate play with your inclusion camper so they can participate successfully in the camp activities. Modify the activities as needed to provide an accessible experience for your camper. If your camper is not potty trained, change their diaper if needed.
