We Strive Never To Turn a Family Away Because of Financial Need

Financial
Assistance

An important part of Cherry Preschool’s community outreach effort is to make the preschool accessible to all families regardless of their ability to pay.  Cherry Preschool does everything in its power to support its families and keep in school all children who are part of the preschool community.  Guidelines and applications for financial assistance are available in the preschool office and on our website. All required forms must be turned in with the application by the registration deadline.  Families are notified of their awards at the time of placement.  For applications turned in after the deadline, awards are made on a first come, first served basis within the limitations of the school’s budget and fundraising ability.  Decisions are made by the Director and Financial Manager and all requests for assistance are kept confidential.

The amount of financial assistance offered to each family is determined by our income guidelines (below), the amount of money available in our budget, and the number of applications in a given school year.  Additional factors taken into account include, but are not limited to: family size; exceptional family stress (death, divorce, illness, loss of job); or physical, emotional, or educational special needs of a child.

Documentation to verify income, consisting of a copy of the your last federal income tax form (1040/1040A/1040EZ), a recent pay stub, or a public aid card, must be attached to the application.  Families unable to provide this type of documentation are asked to contact the office for an alternative plan.   All information provided is strictly confidential.

Each year, through its budgeting process, the Cherry Preschool Board determines the amount of money to be allocated for financial assistance.  These funds are generated by the fundraising efforts of our preschool volunteers throughout the school community.  Some additional support may be received from direct donations by school families, alumni, and friends.

The following broad guidelines (based on a family of 4) will apply:

 Family Gross Income
 Estimated Award
$31,800 and under 75% or more of tuition
 $31,800 - $42,400 50-75% of tuition
 $42,400 - $53,000 25-50% of tuition
 $53,000 - $63,600
 25% or less of tuition

Special circumstances for families who do not meet the guidelines below will be considered.  Families may include a written statement of any personal circumstances they feel deserve additional consideration.

Families who are awarded assistance will be scheduled for 12 monthly payments beginning in June and ending the following May.  For late applications, payments are scheduled monthly from the date of the award through May.  This payment plan allows us to serve more families, by spreading the families’ portion across the full year.
