Parent Education Corner
In addition to being a Cherry parent and former Board member,Alissa has written the parent education column for nine years. She holds a Ph.D. in developmental and clinical child psychology and is in private practice in Evanston.
As my 4-year-old started telling me what television programs “are for babies,” I reflected back on my memories of television. I remember watching Sesame Street, which means I must have been at least 4 or 5 when I was watching it. Now it is often relegated to the baby column, even though the pre-literacy and pro-social themes are entirely appropriate for older preschoolers.

Spring cannot come soon enough! The clocks have sprung forward, the snow is gone, the kids are playing at Penny Park and on the play lot once again, and the Cherry Blossom Jubilee is just around the corner – all sure signs that spring is almost here!
